Mixing and Feeding Directions
Mix a single packet (approx. 0.17 ounces of powder) into one gallon of clean, cool water. Offer the mixed solution to birds newly arrived, during periods of stress, and after antibiotic treatment. If using with Sav-A-Chick Electrolyte, mix one packet of each product into the same gallon of water. Offer the mixed solution AND plain drinking water in a separate container. Important: Make fresh solution daily.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Sav-A-Chick® be fed to birds of all ages?
Can Sav-A-Chick® products be fed to water fowl and game birds?
How long can I keep the mixed solution?
Mixed solution can be refrigerated for up to 48 hours. Discard any unused portion after 48 hours.
Can I offer both the Sav-A-Chick® Electrolyte and Probiotic in the same waterer?
Yes, we recommend using both products together for 3 days per month to help address pathogens in the birds’ environment. Electrolytes contain energy, helping beneficial bacteria grow quickly in the digestive tract. Probiotics can optimize productivity and aid in digestive health.
I only have 5 birds and don’t want to mix a full gallon at a time. What should I do?
Empty a packet each (Electrolyte and Probiotic) into a zip lock bag and mix together and label your bag. There is approximately 1 tablespoon when the two packets of powder are mixed together. For less than a full gallon, measure out 1 teaspoon/quart of water.
Can I feed yogurt with beneficial bacteria to my birds?
Packaged probiotics are a concentrated source of beneficial bacteria formulated specially for birds. Birds also don’t have the enzymes needed to digest milk proteins; they weren’t designed to drink milk and feeding them too much yogurt can cause diarrhea. Store bought yogurt can also contain things that birds do not need including sugar, high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavors.
